Highlights/ exceptional versions from this show are Tenn Jed, Playin', and Not Fade Away. Garcia (guitar) is oddly absent during the final minutes of TOO Jam and the first minute of Me and My Uncle. Maybe he broke a string and had to fix it.

Take your shift at the mine...
The Jam at the end of Truckin' just slays me!
I have been listening to much 71 and it took them much grit and labor to recapture that psychedelic jam that they so freely engaged from 67-69. By this tour they are once again a force of nature wrecking havoc on the minds of unsuspecting European Youth.

Far out second set
The meat of this show is definitely in the second set jams. Beginning with a ripping version of Truckin' that I agree must be one of the very best of the tour (though 4-26 holds some stake to that claim) the Other One jam that follows is surely one of the most unusual performances of the year, if not ever. Jerry and Phil have an excellent duet out of Truckin', with Phil's bass really percolating. This is all too short lived however, and the band flirts around with the Other One theme for a while, never really committing to song, before heading for a very introspective, minimalistic space. This passage is quite beautiful actually, with the band playing very spacious notes. They finally return to the Other One theme but without any lyrics, Garcia strumming some very unique, melodic chords. The Me and My Uncle that follows is high energy, one of the best of the tour maybe. They then segue back into a quick Other One, singing only the first verse! Really weird stuff. The much more conventional NFA>GDTRFB combo to end things is quite rockin', also possibly one of the best of the tour.

Another gem from Denmark
Although the first set suffers from several tragic cuts and is rather poor in sound quality, the band must have felt comfortable performing in the low ceilinged university cafeteria. The second set of this performance is another gem.
A well jammed Good Lovin' preceeds a smokey performance of Truckin'. With some brilliant soloing, Jerry just rips through both instrumental breaks. It's certainly one of the best performances of Truckin' on the tour, in spite of a couple vocal miscues. There is a remarkable passage during the very last part of the segue into the very uniquely jammed Other One. Bobby and Phil briefly lock in on a rather facinating theme which is later revisited several times during The Other One Jam.
This is an atypicaly structured performance of The Other One. It contains several rather quiet passages and is played largely without any drums. One of the intense segments occurs during the early stage of the jam. First Jerry and Phil collaborate before Keith eventually chimes in. Deep into the jam, the Other One theme loosely resurfaces. Weir again slashes those similar leads, continuing to exploit the previous theme with Phil. Finally Billy returns to the stage and the band segues into a short but sweet Me and My Uncle before finally getting around to the first verse of The Other One. Two and a half minutes later its on to the well played NFA> GDTRFB> NFA suite and this one is in the books. (94 pts)

If only...
This was another fantastic show on one hot tour. If the first set only had the sound quality of the second set...Ooooweee! Anyway, still worth 4 stars easily for what we do have here to enjoy.

DON'T SKIP !
Agreed with getting the first set from the other source. The second set here has perfectly fine sound and deserves 5 stars on its own. Are you kidding me ? Any Pig's Lovin' is fine by me !

Second Set Review
Set 1 is incomplete and not very good sounding. But Set 2 is as clean a lineage as you'll find. More importantly the boys go off! Cumberland stands out, as does the Truckin>Other One>Uncle>Other One etc. This set is as good as anything else from this tour- "do yourself a favor." BTW- this show was played in the Aarhus U. cafeteria, a low ceilinged room with people hanging from the rafters!

My Uncle?
Me and My Uncle appears in this copy of the recording. Seems there is either a setlist mistake by confusing Uncle Johns with Me and My Uncle or My Uncle happens to find its way into this recording. Could be either since this copy is missing some songs but My Uncle seems to fit in nicely here.
Either way the performance is pretty good. I really like the end of Deal to the last NFA. Jerry really lets loose. And there is a slight hiss throughout the recording but it is bearable.
